Shroud is a level 5 magespell. If cast on a creature, it will turn invisible for some time. This can be used to protect oneself against animals like wolves and bears and some humanoids. Most dangerous mobiles can, however, see invisible creatures. So can experienced players. Low level players can use the spell Detect Invisibility.
Engaging in combat causes the shroud to be dispelled. If you want to cancel the effect of the spell early (for example, to buy from a low-level shopkeeper), you can 'hit self'.
